Emer Cogan, Program Manager & Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT®)
Emer is the Program Manager and ABAT® at Spectrum Child Development Services (SCDS), the Omani affiliate of the Northwest Behavioral Associates (NBA), where she has served since January 2024. Licensed by the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA®), she provides personalized one-on-one ABA therapy sessions in both home and school settings. In her role as a Program Manager, Emer works closely with Clinical Director Dr. Stacey Shook to design and develop individualized programs rooted in ABA principles. Along with her team, Emer oversees Spectrum’s daily operations, supervising the training and development of behavior technicians, parents, and school staff through hands-on collaboration.
With over a decade of experience in student support, Emer has worked extensively across primary and higher education environments. Her previous roles include student support in universities across Qatar and Dubai and serving as a Remote Crisis Counselor for a U.S.-based organization, where she provided emotional support and safety planning for young people in crisis. In the realm of behavioral support, Emer has delivered classroom-based interventions, parent consultations, and direct ABA therapy as an ABA Therapist with Behavioral Enrichment Dubai. She further advanced her work in inclusive education as a Learning and Behavioral Support Teacher at ABA Oman International School, offering targeted psychological, emotional, and academic assistance to diverse learners.
In addition to earning certifications in Applied Behavior Analysis through The Institute of Child Education and Psychology Europe (ICEPE) and Behavioral Enrichment Dubai, Emer received training at Al Harub Medical Center, Muscat in the psychological services department, observing psychological assessments and performing supervised individualized counselling. Emer holds an MSc. in Applied Psychology from the University of Liverpool and a B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University.
